Dirty by Megan Hart

So here's the thing about Amazon, they can be likened to a drug pusher... "Here, you like this book, I bet you'll love this one just as much... really, c'mere and try it." and that's how I got hooked on Megan Hart.  After purchasing FSoG Dirty was a suggested purchase, I read the description and took a hit, I mean decided to buy it, and it's been an expensive, distracting, enjoyable Spring, Summer and Fall.

Now on to the review...

"So this is what happened... 

I met him at the candy store. He turned and smiled at me and I was surprised enough to smile back. This was not a children's candy store, mind you—this was the kind of place you went to buy expensive imported chocolate truffles for your boss's wife because you felt guilty for having sex with him when you were both at a conference in Milwaukee. Hypothetically speaking, of course."

That's how the book opens, and it sucked me in from the get go.  I loved Elle and Dan as individuals and as a couple.  They are both flawed and real, not your typical romance novel where the Heroine is skinny, blonde, waxed within an inch of her life and the Hero is model handsome with a seriously cut six pack and a dick to rival a porn star.  That isn't Dan and Elle, and if that's what you're looking for move it along.

Elle lives a quiet life in Harrisburg (if you read the Megan Hart books, although not a series the Harrisburg books should be read in order to make sense) she's cordial to her neighbors, had a friend or two at work and prefers one night stands and brief encounters because relationships scare the shit out of her.

Dan, a lawyer with wacky ties, and smooth lines who rocks the perfect first date at a little bar called "The Slaughtered Lamb".  He wants Elle, and he isn't about to back down.

The book felt more real, the dialogue, the people, than anything I've read in a while.

Through the course of the story we find out why Elle eschews the relationship, and we watch Dan persist to break her down.  

I didn't see the twist coming, which was a pleasant surprise.  And because she's awesome Megan gives us a novella, Reason Enough, to keep up with them, as well as popping up in Stranger and I think one other book.

Megan Hart writes quality erotic romance, well written, well edited and of all the books of hers I've read I've only had one I haven't enjoyed and I think that's because it's got a paranormal feel, and as much as I love me a vampire story, for some reason I just couldn't get into that one.

Her books are a treat and reasonably priced, and isn't that what you're looking for when you're looking for a sweet sweet hit of your favorite drug?
